The folks over at Miner’s Mix were kind enough to send a few of their spice blends my way and we had a blast trying them out for our LSU football party this weekend.
Here is a look at five of their products in action!
Maynard’s Memphis BBQ Seasoning and Rub
This is a real nice all purpose barbecue rub. The ingredient list starts with chile powder, ends with cumin, cinnamon and cocoa and has a nice balance of the standard flavor profiles in the middle.
We used the Maynard’s Memphis BBQ seasoning on some smoked chicken breasts. The color turned out amazing and the flavors turned this bland piece of meat into something special.
XXX-Garlic Seasoning and Rub
The XXX Garlic Seasoning and Rub gets its name from the three types of garlic (chopped, granulated and powdered) that lead the way in this flavorful blend.
When I think of big garlic flavors I think of beef so we tried this out on some smoked boneless chuck fingers. The chuck and garlic were an excellent combination and I wouldn’t hesitate to do this cook again.
Steak and Veggie Seasoning and Rub
I think that the Original Steak and Veggie seasoning sums up the Miner’s Mix pretty nicely. The primary ingredient in the rub is salt but this is still a low sodium blend with only 121 mg of sodium. They only way that math works out is if you pack the ingredient list with a ton of other flavors to bring the overall sodium level down.
We tried this blend on some pork steaks and were delighted with the outcome. Beautiful color and huge flavor.
Roast and Prime Rib Seasoning and Rub
This is another garlic based rub with plenty or herbs thrown into the mix. We tossed this mix with some baby Yukon Golds and roasted them in the oven. The smell of the garlic and herbs filled the kitchen!
The potatoes were creamy on the inside, crunchy on the outside and flat out delicious all the way around.
Wholly Chipotle Seasoning and Rub
The Wholly Chipotle blend is a rare find in the world of seasoning blends…a chipotle rub that is actually HOT.
We used this is a bean dip and our tongues were tingling! This blend is more than just heat and brings a good balance of other flavors to the party. This would be a great base rub for folks to use if they want to make some ‘Sweet Heat Ribs”.
