Smoke Hollow is a brand of smokers and grills produced by Outdoor Leisure Products
Outdoor Leisure Products is based in Neosho, Missouri and they offer a one year warranty on all parts for the Smoke Hollow products.
It is pretty easy to get in touch with a real person ( call 1-866-475-5180 or send an email to
email@example.com). When I was researching this article I had a question about the 36 inch smoker and gave them a call. After three rings the phone was picked up by Jessica who sounded like she was working at a US office. She quickly found the answer to my question and was super helpful.
By all of the accounts I have read they are pretty good at honoring warranty claims.
The Smoke Hollow electric smokers are affordable and functional smokers that are designed to compete against the highly successful Masterbuilt electric smoker series.
These smokers have the same drawbacks associated with all electric smokers.
- The models at the low end of the price range are undersized and have a hard time obtaining and maintaining target temperatures.
- The models at the high end of the price range are overpriced with gadgets that either don’t work or that you don’t need.
If you are in the market for a Smoke Hollow then the model I suggest is the Smoke Hollow 36-Inch Digital Electric Smoker. This smoker is available in black or stainless steel and costs just a little over $200. It maintains temperatures easily and is large enough to be considered a real smoker.
Let’s take a closer look at all of the electric Smoke Hollow products so you can see why the 36 inch version is the best choice.
26 Inch Smoker with Adjustable Temperature Control
I understand why people buy this smoker. Because it costs less than $100 people will buy this to see if they are really interested in learning to smoke meats.
There are two MAJOR problems with this product.
The “adjustable temperature control” is simply a rheostat that controls how much electricity is sent to the heating element. There is no feedback loop that actually monitors and controls temperature.
This smoker is also not insulated making the internal temperature highly dependent upon the outside temperature and wind conditions. You will learn to use this during the warm summer months and then completely ruin your Thanksgiving turkey because the temperature inside the smoker will be 50 degrees lower on a cold, windy November day.
Getting great at smoking meat requires an understanding of how to control the temperature inside your smoker. This is something you simply will not obtain with this 26 inch smoker.
The cooking grates are 13×12 inches. This size is perfectly fine for smoking pork chops, salmon or even a pork butt. However, eventually you are going to want to smoke a brisket or a slab of baby back ribs and will be frustrated by the size of this unit.
If you are actually in the market for a small electric smoker then take a look at the Masterbuilt portable electric smoker. The price and internal dimensions are just about the same but the Masterbuilt is more compact, portable and designed to be put away when not in use.
30 Inch Smokers with Adjustable or Digital Temperature Control
Smoke Hollow has three 30 inch electric smokers.
I wouldn’t buy any of them.
The first two 30 inch models have an “adjustable” temperature control that is identically as bad as the control on the 26 inch smoker.
The temperature control on the 30 inch digital smoker is a serious upgrade. The smoker is insulated and the thermostat control has a digital feedback loop that will try to maintain a set target temperature within 10 degrees.
The 30 inch digital smoker is still nicely priced at just under $200.
The cooking grates on this size smoker are 15×12 inches making them a two inches wider than what you get with the 26 inch smoker. If you are smoking a small rack of baby back ribs you could probably fit them in there by turning them diagonally without having to cut them in half.
Although the 30 inch digital smoker is a nice product the reason I would never buy it is because for only $25 you can get the 36 inch digital smoker.
36 inch Smoker with Digital Control
The 36 inch digital smoker is fully insulated and has a digitally controlled thermostat for great temperature control. This smoker has the same grate dimensions as the 30 inch smoker but is significantly taller allowing for the use of an extra cooking grate.
The smoker is available in either black or stainless steel.
I like the 36 inch digital smoker for all of the reasons I like the 30 inch digital smoker. I like it more than the 30 inch smoker because for just a little more money you get more cooking area.
40 inch Smokers with Digital Control and Bluetooth
These smokers are LOADED with features. The promotional video from Smoke Hollow does a great job showing off this product.
I admit, this is one cool looking smoker.
The grate size on the 40 inch will allow you to smoke a full packer brisket without cutting it in half.
You will get serious meat smoking capacity.
But here is the deal…it costs over $400, the Bluetooth rarely works and you will probably only use the cold smoking feature once or twice.
At this price point I would skip the Smoke Hollow and get the Masterbuilt 40 inch Smoker with an RF Remote.
The Masterbuilt 40 is just as large, works GREAT and is about $40 cheaper.
